[00:00:00] Speaker A: Welcome to Strategic Renewal. I'm Doreen Milano and today we're diving into the shifts and strategies that help [00:00:07] Speaker B: leaders reinvent themselves and their businesses. [00:00:10] Speaker A: This is Strategic Renewal on NOW Media Television. [00:00:17] Speaker B: Welcome to Strategic Renewal. I'm Darian Moleno, the profit coach for construction trades and home service owners and the founder of Visions to Excellence. For more than 30 years as a controller, CFO and CEO, I took companies from seven figures in the red to real profit. Now I bring that turnaround playbook to owners who need it the most. Businesses that are busy but broke because every owner has the right to a profitable business. Let's get to work. Every week I look at businesses through the lens of where is the profit linking leaking. And now I get how I get back to where the profit can really show up in the business. So today's guest helps us look at renewal from a different but deeply connected place. Health, energy and the balance of the person leading the business. My guest is a good friend of mine, Dr. Rebecca Gracia. She's a doctor of pharmacology, board certified toxicologist and a thermal bioscan consultant. Dr. Rebecca Gracia comes to Strategic Renewal. Welcome, welcome, welcome. [00:01:35] Speaker C: Thank you, Doreen. I'm so excited to be here visiting with you [00:01:41] Speaker B: to have you. Now, our listeners don't know, but your story begins on a small family form close to nature and influenced by your grandmother's knowledge of, of healing herbs. How did that early connection to nature really help shape your path in the medical field? [00:02:04] Speaker C: Right, so it is rather unusual to come from more of this agricultural background. I grew up, you know, on a farm. We had a small family farm and my grandma Nani was the, you know, center, the social hub and who everybody went to for any of their natural remedies, whatever their problem was. She always knew what herbal tincture, where to get it, how to make it. And it was, you know, something that was passed down from generation to generation. And so for me, healing wasn't just delegated to doctors and hospitals, but it was really something that was more family based, something that we looked to to nature for. And so I've worked on integrating that from my conventional medical training through, you know, those traditional modalities and then working with what we know to be true for generations and generations and thousands of years of using what, you know, people consider more holistic medicine to help people put the full picture together for health and wellness. [00:03:22] Speaker B: So one of the things that I hear you talk about really often is about respecting the body and enjoying the journey to healing. Now most of Us don't really have that experience. You know, we go to a doctor, they give us a pill, we take the pill and we get better. Right, but is that really healing us? Is it, Is it really giving us that sense of true healing? So, yeah, I hear that a lot. I do. [00:04:01] Speaker C: I hear that a lot from clients coming in. It's, you know, it's a good question, you know, is this something that is healing? Is this something that is fixing the underlying issue, or are we just putting a band aid on the symptoms without really delving into all of the hows and whys and understanding the body? And I think this is really something that we're missing in the, you know, conventional medicine world is that whole respect of our body. Our bodies know what we're doing, it knows what it needs. And the different symptoms, shall we say, are actually evidence of it doing something, moving from something from one place to the other, shifting and adjusting to that environment. So we want to look at what the body knows, understand it has its innate wisdom, and be able to respond and help that process and even enjoy that process. I mean, when was the last time you enjoyed going to the doctor and, and looking at your plan and deciding this is going to be rewarding? That's a huge piece that's missing from our care plans. [00:05:24] Speaker B: You and it's an enjoyable experience. I go to a western medicine doctor and I'm poked and prodded and they take blood, they do all these other things, and at the end of the visit, it does not feel good. And I know. So is that why you think that so many business owners that are really high powered and they're go, go, go, go, go all the time, ignore the signals their body is giving them because they don't want to go to the doctor? [00:05:55] Speaker C: Yes, 100%. Nobody likes going to their doctor. And it's because the system is backwards. You know, we're looking at a fast response. We're looking at, how can we, you know, minimize the labs maybe that we're looking at, but we're not actually listening to the body. And so many times as a business owner, I mean, in myself included, we've been through this multiple times. We get so focused on end goal, what's my next step? What am I doing? That we miss the clues that our body is giving us. We miss that information that our physical body, the emotional body, you know, all of the components together are trying to communicate to us, to actually help us meet those end goals. So you're absolutely right about that. [00:06:54] Speaker B: Well, I know for myself, a Lot of times I just say, hey, I can power through this. It's no big deal. I. I keep going, going, going. And then there comes a point in time where my body just says, you're done, and it crashes and burn. And then I'm on the phone going, what did I do? What's going on? So, you know, I think it's easy for us to ignore what. The signals are not always in your face, they're subtle, they're not always prevalent. So that we recognize, oh, my goodness, I need to do this different or I need to do that different, you know, or eating habits. All these other things kind of culminate in how healthy we are and how our body is responding to us. So what things should we be looking out for? [00:07:52] Speaker C: Right. So most of the time, people miss the early signs that their body is not in balance because they expect them to be normal. They expect to be stressed, they expect to be tired, they expect to be frustrated. And these are all signals that your body's not aligned with the direction that you're going. And these are probably some of the earliest symptoms that we can look at, even before you get to symptoms like higher blood pressure, symptoms that you may have headache or pain from the ongoing stress. So we can back up even to those early warning signs that, hey, it's time to shift and do something different. [00:08:40] Speaker B: So how can a business owner begin to see their personal health not as a separate issue, but part of their strategic renewal so they can keep going? [00:08:53] Speaker C: Yes, yes. You want to be able to identify the things your body needs in order to get the maximum efficiency, productivity, and, you know, therefore, your enjoyment in the process, that satisfaction in life. So whenever we're looking at how successful a plan is, we do look at the overall life satisfaction not just with getting those goals done, but how do you feel during that process of accomplishing what those goals are? So we need to look at and break it down into step by step. How is your body responding to step number one? Work on that. How is your body responding to step number two? And then you'll be able to correlate more effective actual work productivity. You'll be able to correlate reaching your even work goals faster whenever your body is physically aligned and able and using all the resources in order to meet those goals. [00:10:04] Speaker B: You know, one of the things that I really got to learn from you is that there are certain things that we can do to support our bodies that we don't know, know that we need to do. We have no clue as to some of the Things we can add to what we're drinking or some of the things that we can shift in how we consume the food that we consume. So it really becomes more denutritious and more of an energy source. And yes, I can't, I can't tell you, you know, what thing flipped the switch for me. But what I can say is that the knowledge that you bring is so deep and so vast that I don't think one show can cover what we're talking about. [00:11:01] Speaker C: Well, we want to give people that idea that you can do things differently. You want to look at the health side of the body, the physical side, in order to maximize that business potential. And that's something, something that, you know, you've helped me incorporate as well. So it really is a great power partner. I've seen amazing things result from bringing these two concepts together. [00:11:27] Speaker B: That's awesome. So many owners are trying to fix their business while ignoring their body that carries the pressure of business every day. Strategic renewal begins when leaders stop treating exhaustion as a cost of success [00:11:47] Speaker A: and [00:11:48] Speaker B: really start seeing health as part of the turnaround plan for their business. So after the break, we'll take a quick look at the connection between body awareness, toxicology and the practical information leaders can use to make better choices. We'll be right back. [00:12:09] Speaker A: We'll be right back with more insights on renewing your focus, your energy and your path forward. This is strategic renewal on NOW Media television. And we are back. I'm Doreen Milano and you're watching strategic renewal on NOW Media television. Let's continue exploring, exploring what it means to embrace change and grow with purpose. [00:12:40] Speaker B: Welcome back to strategic renewal. If your business is making real revenue that never turns into real money, my free profit leak scorecard shows you where it's going. The link is on your screen. Before the break, Dr. Rebecca and I were talking about how leaders often run into run on empty while they're trying to build stronger businesses. Now we're moving into body awareness, toxicology and how information about the body can help people make more intentional steps towards balance and renewal. Dr. Rebecca, you completed your doctor of pharmacy program and became a board certified toxicologist. How is that training really shaped how's that training really shaped the way you think about body, the environment and long term wellness? [00:13:37] Speaker C: Well, the toxicology world really is the outside of the box way of thinking. We are trained to look at what the patient's body's doing and then look at the environment to determine how the body is responding to something in the environment. So it's very different from just a symptom and then solution with like a medication. We're actually trained to look at the hows and why the body is responding in a certain way. So that was a perfect launch for me to go into the natural, holistic side of natural healing so that we can look outside the box, ask questions. What, why is the body responding in this way? What is the root cause? What is that underlying reason? So I'm very grateful to have that background training because it did, you know, give me the understanding of how the body works as a whole on the physiologic side. But it also led me down that path of asking more questions, of letting the body communicate. Here this is a symptom, but why is this happening? [00:14:56] Speaker B: So one of the things that you bring to the table is a lot of different tools that I'd never seen used by a doctor before. And one of those is a thermal bioscan. And you use that as a real foundation for your toxicology consultation services. Can you explain how that works? [00:15:18] Speaker C: Yes. So the thermobioscan is a type of thermography. There's multiple different types of thermography available, but this is the computer regulated. It's actually a thermometry. It's very heavy on the math side. So we do look at hot spots, we do look at the kind of color coding of temperature regulation in the body, but we're able to look at the different variations of that body response. So it's so much more than just, oh, here's an area of inflammation. This has warmth. It looks at the multiple different temperature responses and then compares that with your known temperature variation for a balanced body to give you clues into what's happening underneath the surface. So it's very, very detailed. I always tell patients, be ready. It's information overlo, it's your whole body that we're looking at, all the functional systems. But I help guide through the step by step action plan of what we need to do. So I use that particular scan as a starting point to develop an action plan and see what protocols are needed, which supplements are needed to help each individual meet their health goals. So it is a tool that is FDA cleared, it's not investigational, it's not only used on the holistic side, but there's not very many people who are trained to do this and who have access to it. So it's something to where once you have that information, it is invaluable to understand the underlying cause and then you just take it step by step to help Bring your body back into balance. So I like to help people look at the information and then develop their individualized action plan. [00:17:16] Speaker B: Now, you and I got together because I spent 40 years in the automotive field, and that's a very highly toxic field. Anything from asbestos to off gassing of new product and all kinds of things. And I was really concerned how my body was starting to react to those innate toxins. And so we did all these things, and we've had a bio scan and we've done several things. And what we found out was that we had to start working on some of those pieces and unlocking some of the systems that were starting to shut down because of that. [00:18:00] Speaker C: Right. [00:18:02] Speaker B: So tell the audience what kind of patterns and conversations come from, really helping clients look more closely at their body and how it's functioning. [00:18:14] Speaker C: Right. So we want to look at symptoms as clues into what's happening within the body, not just as a problem that has to be fixed from the conventional side of the world. A symptom is a problem, and you have maybe a medication that reverses that symptom, but that's just like slapping a band aid, you know, on the surface. We want to look at those symptoms as a clue to what's happening deeper inside the body and dig down into where the environmental exposures impact the body's health. So there's multiple, multiple different sources of environmental toxins you can come across, sometimes from past occupational hazards like yours, sometimes even from queer you grew up, you know, like mine, I grew up on a farm. And you may think that's, like, beautiful and idealistic, but that land originally was a cotton farm, and it was heavily sprayed and has pesticides that accumulate over time that I absorbed as a child and then needed to identify and clear later to bring my body back into balance. So there's things throughout your lifetime that you can be exposed to that you may not even know about, and then there's things currently that you are consistently exposed to that you may be able to limit or you may not be able to control different things in the environment. So we work on identifying those, being able to help the body clear the chronic types of accumulating exposures and then mitigate the acute, ongoing types of exposures to toxins. And look at allowing the body to work with where we are right now and function to our, you know, maximum. That's what people want. They want to maximize their life, their health, how they feel with where they are. And it's important to be able to identify those past exposures, those risks, and to minimize those as much as possible. So whether that's chronic or acute, which can be things that you're exposed to at work or at home with your cleaning products, with your personal care products, I help people walk through and identify any of those that we can potentially make important changes to. [00:20:50] Speaker B: So from that perspective, there are practical lifestyle changes that you often encourage people to consider when they want to bring their body back into balance. What are some of those lifestyle changes that you talk to folks about? [00:21:07] Speaker C: All right, so I have access to wonderful clinics and places where you can go for healing with high level types of equipment and supplements and IVs. And we look at the different ozone therapies and hyperbaric oxygen. But I really like for people to start with where they are in their home. Let's talk about things you can do on a day to day basis like breathing. There's so many different types of breathing techniques that will help your body detox come back into balance. I like to talk to people about their water. What type of water filtration do they use, how much water do you drink, the timing of that. And of course, I like to talk to people about the food that we're eating, what you're putting into your body. We want to use food as your medicine. And if you know how and what combinations to use, then you'll be able to help your body just by using the resources you have at hand to come back into balance to where you really can feel your body coming back, getting that energy that you just thought was going to be, you know, lost forever. You thought that it was normal to be tired, you thought it was normal to be slow and sluggish, and that's just not the case. We're able to see remarkable turnarounds by doing some of these very simple techniques. [00:22:36] Speaker B: That's amazing. Information creates choice. And when leaders understand what may be affecting their energy, focus and resilience, they can make more disciplined choices instead of simply forcing themselves to keep going. Coming up next, we'll be connecting health renewal to leadership, mindset and the emotional courage required to change directions. We'll be right back with Strategic Renewal. [00:23:11] Speaker A: We'll be right back with more insights on renewing your focus, your energy and your path forward. This is Strategic Renewal on NOW Media Television. And we are back. I'm Doreen Milano and you're watching Strategic Renewal on NOW Media Television. Let's continue exploring what it means to embrace change and grow with purpose. [00:23:42] Speaker B: So welcome back to Strategic Renewal. I'm Doreen Milano and I'm here with Dr. Rebecca Gracia we've been talking about body awareness, balance and the importance of respecting the signals that show up before the crisis. Now we're connecting this to leadership. Sustainable business renewal does not begin only with a new plan. It begins when the owner's willingness to change patterns that are draining energy, clarity and confidence get changed. So Dr. Gracia, what does it mean when you say respect your body and enjoy the journey to healing? [00:24:29] Speaker C: Right. So most people view healing as addressing a problem and we really want to change that perspective to seeing healing as an ongoing process, as a daily part of our life, moving from point A to point B. And I like helping people developing their health goals and understand that we live in a toxic environment and we want to be able to help our bodies respond to what we're exposed to, adjust and then be able to become more resilient, to be able to move past what past exposures are, were what current exposures are so that you're not limited by, you know, anything that is slowing the body down. So most people think that when their body has a symptom that that's a problem and then the problem has a negative connotation with it. But in reality, the body is only communicating to you. And if you look at that symptom as information, then you can plug that in to our equations that will help you really move towards your success. [00:25:55] Speaker B: So why is it so difficult for many driven people to slow down long enough to understand what needs to change? [00:26:07] Speaker C: Most of the time I have people who say that they're afraid. They're afraid that if they stop, they won't be able to accomplish what they're looking for. They're afraid that if they pull in a change in direction, new information, that it won't get the same outcome. Most of the time people feel like they just have to hold on, push through until they get to that end point and then they'll stop back, look, take care of their body, readjust, sleep, that's probably one of the main things is I'll sleep later. But what they don't understand is that the goal and where you will reach when you're operating on decreased energy, low fuel, that end goal that you will get to isn't going to be the same. It isn't going to be as satisfactory as if you were to take it with all of the different information using what your body's telling you. So that when you get to the end, not only have you successfully reached a goal, but your body is in a better place because of it. [00:27:24] Speaker B: Well, I know. I want you to. I want to just highlight something that you said because for me, it was my mantra for a long time, which is, I don't need to rest right now. I'll sleep when I'm dead. Right. And I just kept going and going and going and going and going and going and going. There is a price to pay for that, ladies and gentlemen. You cannot keep doing that. No. [00:27:52] Speaker C: And what people don't understand is that running on halfway, running on empty does not get the same outcome as when you are fully charged. Your brain doesn't make the same signals. You miss different opportunities. Your brain isn't able to look at the whole picture. You may get tunnel vision and you may think you're focused, but in reality, your brain missing a lot of the outside information that you need to help you reach that goal. So pushing and pushing and pushing does not get the same result as you will. Taking it step by step, respecting the body, being able to be rested, relaxed, fully charged as you're walking through your day. [00:28:48] Speaker B: Now, it took some time with you for me to really understand the imbalance that was going on in my life and what a healthier rhythm really felt like and looked like. That goes on with most of the, most of the entrepreneurs. I know that the mindset is more about, you know, I'll rest later. I've got to get this done now. I have a window to get this handled. I have a window to launch. I have a window to do this and do that. But their health was never part of the equation of how they were building those windows, was it? [00:29:29] Speaker C: Right? So really the question to ask is, at what cost are you going to push through to reach it end goal? You may not be able to see that that end goal won't be as good or where you want it by pushing through. But everyone knows that when you push through like that, it's going to take a toll on your body. And if you continue to push through with not resting, not refueling, not recharging, when you reach an end business goal, you won't be in a position place to where you'll be able to enjoy it, where you'll be able to feel that satisfaction. Because hours and hours and hours of sleep deprivation not only makes you feel fatigued, tired and crummy, it prevents the actual brain chemistry from connecting in a way that allows that dopamine, that serotonin, those neurochemicals that define and allow you to feel that satisfaction, those are going to be impaired and you'll be limited on even how you'll feel about reaching certain goals. So it's important for people to understand that whenever they're deciding what kind of rhythm is right for them. [00:30:58] Speaker B: So how big a role does mindset play in this. This process? I'm hearing more and more that it is essential. [00:31:09] Speaker C: Absolutely. Mindset can be everything a lot of people don't know. Whenever they set out making a goal, they start with a specific mindset. And if that mindset is, you know, what we call faulty or unbalanced, then you won't have the structure necessary to pull you through going through the obstacles, because there will be obstacles going through the unknown, going through the changes and the stress that occurs in the body. Anytime there's a change, good or bad, the mindset needs to be structured appropriately with that end goal in mind. And so that's something that actually, you have helped me tremendously to be able to look at business end goals. And then we backtrack from there to see what mindset needs to be in place first so that the actual end goal can be accomplished in the way and fashion that I need it to be accomplished. [00:32:21] Speaker B: So how can personal renewal improve the way entrepreneurs, an entrepreneur actually leads? You know, how they communicate. Yeah, [00:32:32] Speaker C: right. So we're looking at changing perspectives. We're looking at changing the way someone sees a problem, whether it's a symptom or whether it's, you know, a business problem or a family problem. Changing that perspective to a more healthy, a more healthful version of understanding that that's information. Information gets plugged into your equation, and then you let that equation run its course, just like math, to get the outcome. Once you're able to identify a problem, send it to the information side of your brain instead of the emotional problem side of your brain, then you are able to work with different resources to make it actually help you so that these, what previously were problems now become really the way that guides you to address any situation that you're in. [00:33:36] Speaker B: Exciting. We can actually be in control of some of this that's going on around us. [00:33:43] Speaker C: So, like, what? That's amazing. [00:33:47] Speaker B: Well, people don't think that way. [00:33:48] Speaker A: Right. [00:33:50] Speaker B: I mean, a lot of times we are so tired. We're so tired, we're no longer thinking. We're just responding and reacting. Right? [00:34:02] Speaker C: Exactly, exactly. And that's not. Not a happy way to live. People aren't happy with that. That's not something that brings that joy and satisfaction. [00:34:16] Speaker B: So renewal is not just a business concept. It's a personal discipline. Leaders who learn to listen, adjust and rebuild from the inside out create stronger conditions for the business to grow without sacrificing the person behind it. When we return, we will focus on practical next steps for viewers who are ready to renew their health, energy and direction with more clarity and purpose. We'll be right back. [00:34:54] Speaker A: We'll be right back with more insights on renewing your focus, your energy and your path forward. This is Strategic Renewal on NOW Media Television. And we are back. I'm Doreen Milano and you're watching Strategic Renewal on NOW Media Television. Let's continue exploring what it means to embrace change and grow with purpose. [00:35:25] Speaker B: Welcome back to Strategic Renewal. Stay connected to this show. If your business is making real revenue that never turns into real money. My free profit leak scorecard shows you where the money is going. The link is on your screen. Welcome back. And today Dr. Rebecca Gracia and I have explored the connection between body and awareness, health renewal, leadership and sustainable growth. In this final segment we are going to dig into focusing on practical success steps for business owners and leaders who are ready to build with more energy, clarity and long term vision. I'm so excited about this because I can only tell you how much has helped me. So for someone who knows they need to make changes but feels overwhelmed, what is the simple place to begin? Dr. Where do we start? [00:36:25] Speaker C: Right, so I think it's important to have a plan. Everyone needs an action plan with step by step instructions on here's what you do first, here's what you do second. There are too many options out there and everyone gets constant input from their social media, from advertisements about this supplement or that supplement or this test or this scan and do I need this or do I need this other one? So the information out there is something we're just inundated with and you need to have an action plan and someone that you're working with to help you choose what those next steps need to be. What works for one person isn't going to be the same thing that works for you. So it's important that it's individualized and something that fits within your budget, your time budget, your financial budget, your emotional how much can you do in a day budget so that you're not trying to add so much more in that you actually overwhelm your system by doing all the good things. It needs to be the right things at the right time in order to have the best outcome. [00:37:50] Speaker B: Absolutely. So when you get people coming to you, are they showing up because they have fear or because they're curious or is it a combination of the two? [00:38:05] Speaker C: Most of the time I have people coming in because they're frustrated with the past journey, the system that tests and tests and tests and doesn't provide answers. They've tried a lot of different things, but they're not getting the results they're looking for. And they are afraid. They're afraid that there aren't answers for them. They're afraid that there isn't a solution for what they're looking for. People are naturally curious and so they like to learn about the different types of options. But primarily they want to have hope. They want to know that there is hope for the for them, hope for them to get better, hope for them to feel good, to be able to function like they're wanting to. And that's something that I can, you know, help look at. Yes, you've tried all these things before, but was the timing correct? Did you have the right information? Here's where you are now and then here's where we need to move forward for the future. [00:39:19] Speaker B: I know that when I started seeing you, you created an action plan for me to go through and it probably took us four to six months to get to the next stage. And while my body reacts quickly to certain things, it did not stabilize enough so that we felt good about moving forward. [00:39:48] Speaker C: Right. [00:39:50] Speaker B: So what can people expect in, in their journey? [00:39:57] Speaker C: So everybody's response is different. There's not a typical time necessarily. But looking at the different scan information, we can get an idea of how deep the toxins are, how many steps we need to get to while we're shoveling out the accumulated toxins over the years. So some things do take longer than others, but we're able to layer and stack the therapies so that your body can get resolution with some of those surface easier to access. We call those like low hanging fruit. While we're still doing the heavy labor of digging out those deeper toxins. So that you can maintain this trust in your body that yes, it can heal, yes, it will go through these steps. Moving forward. Some things do take longer than others. But you can see even with little changes, your body can start to make those improvements. [00:41:07] Speaker B: Well, isn't that exciting for people? When we're looking at changing how our body responds and how our health shows up, I think it's really important for us to not only notice the changes, but don't get compliant or complacent is really what I mean. Now I feel better. I don't have to do anything else. Which is more correlated to the western medicine philosophy rather than the holistic Philosophy, right? [00:41:43] Speaker C: Yes, yes, exactly. Exactly. So I love helping people identify what works best for them so that even if they feel like, well, this is okay, this is functional, what can they do to help their body, you know, really optimize your health? We're not looking just for bare minimum. We're looking for, yes, let's repair, let's recover, but then let's move on to that next step, which is optimizing. It's amazing when people get those brain connections happening and all of a sudden, oh, their memory is improving. Oh, now they can, you know, go through these steps that they weren't able to do before. They're able to see improved brain patterns that they didn't even know were possible. So that's a very exciting place to be. [00:42:46] Speaker B: That is exciting. And is it easy to keep your. Your patients encouraged through this process? Because some of it takes a long time, some of it takes a short time, you know, and how do we stay? And I say we because I'm one of your patients, but how do. How do we stay encouraged to continue on the journey? [00:43:11] Speaker C: I think it's important to have accountability partners. It's important to have people in a community that are supporting each other so that you can know, hey, other people are going through a health journey, too. You may be able to encourage them. They can then share information and encourage you. It's important to take time to rest and recover so that as you're feeling your body improve, you give a little bit of a window to appreciate that and even celebrate those small successes as you're ready.
